Santa Monica/LA/Malibu

~ LA & Malibu ~

LA is bloody great. One of my favourite places I have visited, there is so much life around, everyone is so full of energy and theres always something going on. My biggest highlight was the beach gym, I know it sounds like nothing but for someone who loves the gym and the beach it is a dream! I had so much fun playing around, I felt like a big kid. After the gym we went and got lunch and did a little bit of shopping, theres an American brand called Aloyoga which I had been dyeing to get to! We walked through the city and along the esplanade of Venice beach. We got smoothies from the muscle beach gym which was such a cool experience.

The next day we wanted to hike the Hollywood sign, we woke up nice and early to try and beat the heat but it didn’t work, the hike up to the Hollywood sign is about an hour, maybe a little longer depending on your hiking ability. My father in law drove us up to the beginning of the track, usually you would have to walk all the way up the residential mountain as you aren’t allowed to park anywhere! so annoying but anyway he decided he didn’t want to come so it worked out well for us three. The views of LA are insane when you get to the top, it’s pretty damn cool, you don’t realise how big it is until you see it from up there.

After Hollywood we drove round Beverly Hills, we obviously had to get pictures with the Beverly Hills sign, once we had finished here we wanted to find the famous rodeo drive, now.. ironically we drove 45 minutes around LA trying to find this street… James’s sat nav took us here there and everywhere.. little did we know, it was the street just down from the Beverly Hills sign. We had literally looked at it and said wow that place looks cool and then continued on our journey to find that exact place haha! After an hour driving around we were back where we started and we got to walk around rodeo drive, its pretty damn cool actually, super luxe and we couldn’t afford anything on the Main Street but that didn’t stop us from looking!

Malibu is soooo beautiful, we stayed here for two nights in a caravan park which was on top of a hill, it overlooked the beach and whilst we ate breakfast we could see the dolphins play in the ocean. We used this as a basecamp for our day in LA. It is pretty spread out as its mostly residential but there is a little complex of a few things including a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. We ate at the restaurant both nights, it will absolutely  divine and he grocery store has everything you need, it’s huge. In Malibu there is a restaurant called Nobu, please make sure you go to this and at least get a cocktail, its a very expensive restaurant and the location is right on the water.
