~ Glasgow ~
It took us 8 hours to drive here from where we live in the UK, we stopped a few times along the way for the toilet and something to eat. We stopped for lunch in the lake district and we also ate at the service stations along the motorway. We got to our Airbnb in Glasgow which was super cute, we went down to the supermarket and some beers to kick off our road trip whilst we waited on the rest of my family.
The city itself is awesome, it is really old and the high street is really long. So many buskers and little stalls along the high street, there was a gin stall which served all different sorts and colours of gins, it was probably one of the best gins I’ve had! You aren’t short of shops here either, loads to see and do.
Whilst we were in Glasgow we had seen on the map there were some castle ruins, we went to check it out and it was totally abandoned, there was a fence all the way around but someone had obviously made way for themselves to get in. So we decided to go through and climb around the castle ruins. Pretty sketchy to be honest but so much fun, it had a really creepy but cool feel to it, there was broken elevators and stairs that led underground!
We also checked out the devils pulpit in Finnich Glen which was only about 45 minutes drive from Glasgow, it’s pretty difficult to find so if you find some people that look like they’ve been walking around or are wet, ask them how to find it, also google always has the answer right?! The place is covered in trees and you have to go down some sketchy rock staircase to get to the bottom, it is totally worth it though, absolutely beautiful. I would recommend taking a towel, flip flops, swimwear and whatever else you need to swimming as you need to get wet to get to a few of the waterfalls etc.
After we did this we drove back to Glasgow and went to the Clydeside Whiskey Distillery, the tour was pretty amazing actually, I never knew so much went into making whiskey! I am not a whiskey fan at all, this became obvious at the tastings haha, but I did really enjoy the tour, I believe it was £20 each. If you aren’t big on whiskey, Scotland is the motherland for gin, so check the gin distilleries out too.
